Watch the TrailerI really wasn’t sure what to expect from The Wolfman after seeing a couple of the trailers. I actually was content with this reboot from the 1941 original film of the same name. There were many great moments in the movie. The set looked authentic, the wardrobe was lovely and perfect for that era and the loud pounding shock sound moments had me jumping. I thought that was amazing because anymore with horror films, you just know when those scary moments are going to happen. I’m glad I gave The Wolfman a chance. It was much better than what I had anticipated.
The Wolfman is a tale about Lawrence Talbot (Benicio del Toro), a nobleman who returns home after his brother's brutal death. He’s asked by his brother’s lovely fiancé (Emily Blunt) to find out what happened to her beloved. During his stay, there’s a rabid beast terrorizing the town by ripping their bodies apart limb by limb. Lawrence has the misfortune of being chomped something good by this howling beast. Officials know what happened to Lawrence and want to capture, if not kill "the one who bears the mark of the beast." Mmm mmm mmm! I know I wouldn’t want to bear such a mark.
Now, if I know someone is a wolfman of some sort, I definitely would stay far away from them. Seriously! Why would you think a man cursed by a beast would be able to control his desires of killing? There is always some woman who loves a less than desirable man. The Positive --you can’t say they're shallow. I’m not trying to be with a Lycan so he can up and bite me in the butt. I do believe in working with a brotha, but a wolfman is a bit extreme.

Anyhoo, The Wolfman was very horrific. If you have a weak stomach when it comes to blood, you'll be looking away many times. The transformation of Lawrence the man turning into a werewolf was absolutely creepy in a fantastic way. It looked genuine. If I ever saw anything like that, I wouldn't be waiting around to see this man totally transform. As soon as his hands started cracking, I'd be GONE!
There were some jive howling noises
the werewolf belted out that made me giggle and some corny CG that had the wolfman running crazy and fast like Speedy Gonzales. So fake looking. Besides, a couple of these complaints, the setting was perfect for this kind of horror film set way back in the day. It helped me feel the mood and mystique of the film.
I thought the casting was well played with Benicio del Toro, Sir Anthony Hopkins, Emily Blunt and Hugo Weaving. Benicio, he’s so wonderful and a committed and believable actor. He really helped this picture be real. Every time I know he is in a movie, I want to check it out.
You want to see a quick horror/drama film that has some good action sequences The Wolfman might do it for you. Just don't get bit.
